Repair loose chimney pots and inspect high-level masonry on National Trust for Scotland properties.
Challenges And solutions:
Working within the historic village of Culross presented several challenges due to the narrow streets and the age and listed status of the buildings. Traditional ladder access was deemed unsuitable because of health and safety concerns and the potential risk of causing damage to the historic fabric of the properties.
To ensure the safety of our operatives and minimise any risk to the buildings, we arranged for the use of a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP). This required a temporary road closure, which was carefully planned and coordinated with our subcontractors and the relevant authorities. By working closely with all parties involved, we were able to safely position the platform to carry out the necessary repairs efficiently while protecting the surrounding historic environment.
Outcome:
The repairs were completed promptly, and the chimneys were made safe and secure. Through effective planning and coordination, the road closure was managed efficiently, allowing the road to be reopened ahead of schedule and minimising disruption to the local community and public.
